    Lash Perming

Could mascara and your trusty eyelash curler be a thing of the past? Some women are swearing by new techniques that take several steps out of the morning make-up routine. Eyelash perming and eyelash tinting have long-lasting effects that may have women throwing mascara wands and curlers out the window!

Probably unbeknownst to many women, a tube of mascara is only technically “good” for two months. Eyelash curlers last pretty much forever, but their effect does not, leaving us to perform this task each time we apply mascara. Some women started to desire a less high-maintenance routine which led to the development of eyelash perming and eyelash tinting. Sound crazy? No more than crimping your lashes and smearing them with paraffin and iron oxide.

    Lash & Brow Tinting

For about the length of time it takes to get a mani and pedi or a haircut, you can also have semi-permanent tint applied to your eyelashes.

While this does require a touch-up about every four to six weeks, the same as hair color, this may be a great solution for fair-haired and fair-skinned women. This is also a great solution for those who simply want to add definition to their eyes without adding makeup. Many upscale salons now offer this service for anywhere between $15 and $50. And while your clients are there, why not give them an eyebrow tint to match.

Rhonda Rovan, answers your questions about the safety of eyelash tinting.

    Eyelash Perming

    Eyelash Perming

Eyelash perming takes about the same amount of time and is performed by a professional who applies a special type of glue to the lashes then wraps them around a tiny sponge roller – not unlike those used in hair perming. Permanent wave solution is then added to the eyelashes and left to sit (eyes squeezed tightly shut) for about five minutes. The procedure results in a flattering upturned look for the lashes that lasts as long as the life of the lashes themselves, around five months. Cost-wise, this procedure seems to be priced right around $40 to $50.

Hundreds of women swear by these techniques as a solution to annoying beauty problems such as translucent or straight and downward curving eyelashes. While many are hesitant to jump on the bandwagon, the technique should always be performed by a licensed cosmetologist who is familiar with precautions for eyelash tinting and perming. Most of our clients would be happy to say goodbye to two steps of their morning make-up routine!
