DRY ROOM TREATMENTS: In Vol. 1, McHenry demonstrates how to provide three types of full-body exfoliation services: dry brush exfoliation (the standard method used prior to other treatments), gel-based chemical exfoliation, and the classic salt body scrub. In Vol. 2, she demonstrates how to provide two more exfoliation services: body microdermabrasion (with a hand-held rotary device and cream with aluminum oxide crystals) and a classic sugar body scrub. In both volumes, McHenry covers all the steps from preparation to the finishing touches that your clients will love. She discusses room and table set-up, supplies, available product types, client preparation, and benefits and contraindications. She also shows step-by-step how to mix and prepare products, drape and position clients, keep clients warm, stimulate lymphatic flow, remove products in a dry room setting, and provide a pre- and post-treatment client consultation. “Scrubs and polishes increase vasodilation without heating or cooling the body,” says McHenry. “They can be offered by themselves as a stimulating massage, or as part of other body treatments, such as anti-cellulite, body wraps, and sunless tanning, allowing for better product penetration.” Body wraps are the quintessential spa treatments featured on spa marketing materials. Mud, seaweed, and herbs – high in vitamins and minerals – are highly therapeutic, and thermal wraps help in the vasodilation and penetration of those elements…as well as define the spa experience. In Aesthetic VideoSource's new Dry Room Treatments: Body Wraps (Volumes 1 & 2), Malinda McHenry, a licensed aesthetician and instructor, walks you through the steps of providing various body wraps in a dry room setting, so any spa can offer these services. In Vol. 1, McHenry demonstrates how to perform three body wraps with seaweed: a seaweed gel wrap, a seaweed sachet wrap in a steam canopy, and a peel-off alginate mask. In Vol. 2, she demonstrates how to provide body wraps with mud and with herbal-soaked linen. The three treatments include a thermal clay modeling mask, a back mud treatment, and an herbal linen wrap. In both volumes, McHenry covers all the steps from preparation to the finishing touches. She discusses room and table set-up, supplies, available product types, client preparation, and benefits and contraindications. She also provides step-by-step instructions showing how to mix and prepare products, cocoon clients in sheets and blankets, efficiently apply and remove products in a dry room, and how to use a steam canopy and hydroculator. Throughout, McHenry provides many useful insider tips that she has acquired from years of experience to create relaxing treatments. “The heat is a luxurious aspect of body wraps,” says McHenry. “But the main benefit is gained by the ingredients used in the wraps and their penetration into the body.” Body Scrubs 1: Running Time: 1 Hr. 35 Mins.
